CURRENT POWER RANKING

Olave Garden is no longer a 2026 contender, and the roster now reflects that reality.

Moving Justin Herbert and Ladd McConkey for Jordan Addison, Bhayshul Tuten and future capital was an acknowledgement that an 0-4 start and 222.38 points through two weeks did not justify protecting a win-now roster.

The remaining core is not empty. Drake Maye and Jordan Love give Mat two viable Superflex quarterbacks. Omarion Hampton and Josh Jacobs are useful dynasty pieces, while Tee Higgins, Deebo Samuel and Jordan Addison keep the receiver room respectable. Tyler Warren gives the roster another young building block.

The problem is ceiling. After dealing Herbert and Ladd, this team simply does not have enough premium weekly difference-makers to compete with the league’s best rosters right now.

CURRENT READ: Rebuilding, but not barren. The next challenge is making sure the sell-off creates a real future advantage rather than just a younger version of mediocrity.

WHY OLAVE GARDEN IS DANGEROUS

Justin Herbert, Drake Maye and Jordan Love create elite Superflex depth
Omarion Hampton and Josh Jacobs give the backfield real ceiling
Tee Higgins, Ladd McConkey and Deebo Samuel provide a strong receiver core
Tyler Warren gives the roster a high-upside young tight end
The roster is deeper than the current standings suggest
Mat has a relentless competitive streak and does not disengage when a season turns ugly

WHAT COULD BLOW IT UP

The franchise has historically absorbed brutal injury variance
Several important pieces still carry weekly volatility
The current 0-2 start immediately reduces margin for error
Past seasons have shown how quickly elite roster construction can be erased by health
Continued bad luck could again make talent irrelevant
Nobody questions whether Mat can build a dangerous roster. The recurring question is whether fantasy football will finally let him keep one healthy.

FRANCHISE PHILOSOPHY

Olave Garden is built around relentless competition. Won't roll over and accept a lost season easily, does not mentally check out when circumstances turn against him, and rarely allows bad luck to become an excuse for bad management. The roster is continually pushed toward competitiveness even when the standings say otherwise.

That mentality has been tested repeatedly. Across multiple seasons, elite first-round investments have disappeared almost immediately, including Nick Chubb, Christian McCaffrey and Malik Nabers. The details change, but the pattern has been cruelly consistent: just as the roster appears ready to break through, something major breaks instead.

DRAFT CAPITAL

Current projected 2027 draft slot: 1.04

Olave Garden currently sits outside the playoff field, placing the franchise in the projected lottery range. Among non-playoff teams, draft order is driven by inverse Points For.

2027
2028
FRANCHISE LORE
Widely regarded as the league’s most cursed manager
Lost Nick Chubb shortly after investing first-round capital
Lost Christian McCaffrey shortly after another first-round investment
Lost Malik Nabers after yet another premium investment
Has never won a fantasy championship
Remains relentlessly competitive regardless of circumstances
Rarely accepts that a season is over
A healthy Olave Garden roster is treated very differently by the rest of the league

FRANCHISE HISTORY

Olave Garden’s early history is less about trophies than survival. Mat has repeatedly built competitive rosters only to watch cornerstone players disappear at the worst possible time. Nick Chubb, Christian McCaffrey and Malik Nabers each became symbols of a franchise that has somehow turned elite first-round talent into recurring injury trauma.
